Jupiter in Astrology
When Jupiter is placed in a house, the affairs of that house will be connected in some way with the house(s) containing the sign of Sagittarius as well as the house containing the ruling planet of the sign this planet is posited in. For example, placement in the sign of Aries would indicate a connection with the house this planet is posited in and the house containing Mars, planetary ruler of Aries. Similarly, since Jupiter is the traditional ruler of Pisces, we may see a secondary connection to the house(s) containing the sign of Pisces as well. This placement does not necessarily mean good fortune will be bestowed upon us, but rather where we tend to expect our greatest rewards. This expectation, felt persistently and keenly enough, may very well bring positive results for our faith. This is generally construed as an area where we wish to be expansive and grasp for a greater life experience or attempt to give our lives some ultimate meaning or sense of purpose. The affairs and people of this house will indicate where and how we attempt to do this and will also show us where we may be most inclined to be generous. This is a positive expression for this energy and beneficial to the native as well when their good deeds are rewarded. There should be a degree of caution kept in mind when examining the house this planet is posited in. This house symbolizes an area where we wish to grow and be able to explore. The trick, however, is in not over-extending ourselves because this may very well be an area where we can easily let our reach exceed our grasp. Usually, the problems associated with the affairs of the placement house are visited upon us because we went overboard or over-indulged in some way. Related problems could come from so very many things that snare our interest we may have difficulty focusing our efforts in just one area. This condition tends to scatter the native’s energy and may be responsible when waning interest undermines an undertaking because we are too anxious to be off and onto something else. Another possibility is that the rewards we expect here may not live up to our expectations; hence disillusionment. This is where we tend to look for our own personal truth and whatever that means to us individually. This is also where we can find hope and faith in the darkness that invades our lives from time to time. JUPITER IN THE SIGNS This planet represents our inner faith in life and in ourselves. It is an optimistic energy and indicates how and where we want to broaden our horizons and to be expansive in some way. The major drawback with this energy is that this overly optimistic approach may encourage us to be too expansive; and thus, overreach ourselves in some way. This overextension can lay the groundwork for trouble. However, possibly because of a positive attitude and its accompanying expectations, Jupiter usually sees us through even when this reprieve may come at the final hour. This planet is the natural ruler of Sagittarius and the ninth house, and may also indicate our attitude toward higher education, religion, ethics, the law, philosophy and is also associated with publishing and other ninth house issues. In this manner, it takes on a very personal flavor, for it may indicate a personal philosophy and approach to life as well as a person’s moral character. The sign placement will color the native’s approach to all of the issues listed above. On a secondary level, this planet is the traditional ruler of Pisces (now ruled by Neptune) and the twelfth house. This could be an indication that Pisces/twelfth house issues may figure into the equation where Jupiter is concerned as well.
