Venus in Astrology
The house where we find Venus will indicate the area of life where we will tend to seek out the more pleasing aspects of our existence. This includes social graces and artistic pursuits as well as romance. This house and its condition will temper our ideals about beauty and show where and how we attempt to seek this. This is an area where we will usually experience a state of peace or ease and possibly in some way seek a state of balance. This planet is associated with union and the desire for relationship. Its house placement and sign will give indications of how we attempt to achieve this while aspects to the planet may give indications about how successful our attempts at doing this will be. This is an area where we can be pleasing as well as where we are most open to being pleased by others. Or, put another way, where we are most likely to seduce and be susceptible to seduction ourselves. This planet is associated with the feminine principle and so, before we assume that everything associated with this planet denotes peace and ease, we should remember the saying – "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned!" Which brings us to one of the downsides of this planet and that can manifest as jealousy. This planet wants to be seen as the fairest of them all! When she feels threatened by a rival, or someone trying to out-do her, the little green monster of envy or jealousy can rear its ugly head. If this happens, the beauty of this planet might turn into a hideous shrew. Sign placement and aspects to this planet will give indications of what she might be hiding in her arsenal for any would be retaliatory strikes. The other downside of this planet worthy of note is that of self-indulgence. This planet, by itself, may not foster much energy and this could lead to over-indulgence or indolence. With this in mind, placement may indicate where we suffer a lack of motivation or are downright lazy. VENUS IN THE SIGNS Descriptive of the affectionate nature, it tells a good deal about how a person goes about pursuing and expressing love, romance and sensuality and also what a person is liable to find appealing in this area. It may indicate our attitude toward money, material possessions, recreational pursuits and creature comforts. This planet is also associated with aesthetic values and tastes as well as our desire for harmony in relationships and our attitudes toward socializing. She is also associated with the arts and creativity and may be an indication of talent in this area or at least be indicative of what a person appreciates along these lines. In most cases, women are more closely attuned to this planet's energy than men are because of the connection of this planet with femininity. However, it will be descriptive of the feminine qualities in men as well. The sign it is placed in will color our preferences and the expression of Venus’ energy. For women, Venus is an indication of how she expresses her femininity and how she tries to attract others, while for men this could indicate what he finds attractive in women.
