Virgo reading and planetary transits for
the week of August 29, 2010. MOON IN NINTH
The transit of the Moon through the ninth house may mark a period of restlessness for us. This may be more of a mental or spiritual restlessness rather than an urge for travel. A new area of study may come to our attention that offers emotional gratification, Virgo, but this could also be a time when our religious or spiritual pursuits may offer the same sort of satisfaction.
MOON IN TENTH
August 31, 2010 The tenth house is related to our career and our public image. This may be a time when we are more emotionally in tune with those we come in contact with in our career. Keep in mind that emotions are on public display at this time as well, Virgo, so any displays of emotion you may want to ensure are appropriate for the moment. This may be a time when we reveal more about ourselves through emotional reactions than we wish to. The tenth house also represents the dominant parent and could indicate some interaction with this parent at this time. Since career is tied in here, we might also find ourselves questioning whether our choice of career was to please ourselves or to inadvertently gain the approval of a parent.
MOON IN ELEVENTH
September 3, 2010 The eleventh house contains friends, professional organizations, and our hopes, wishes and goals in life. With the Moon transiting the eleventh house we may find our emotions coming into play in any of these areas. As always, Virgo, watch for inappropriate emotional responses and, as with all transits of the Moon, this could be an indication of females or at least one woman playing a larger role in this area now. This could be a time of connecting with friends on a deeper level, Virgo, and further strengthening the bonds between us. It could also indicate a time when we are apt to examine our goals, dreams and objectives to find how to better make these dreams a reality, or to determine if they are unrealistic after all. In any of these areas, Virgo, as with all lunar transits, we should watch for emotional responses that stem from our past and may have little to do with the present situation. This will almost guarantee an inappropriate response to the present moment. If this should be the case, do not despair, Virgo. As with all transits of the Moon, this can give us a window into the past so that we can adjust our behavior and responses to the present moment and free ourselves from negative response patterns.
SUN IN FIRST
This is the "me" time of year, Virgo. After the Sun passes over the Ascendant, our own personal astrological new year begins. This is similar to another birthday, and a time when we should focus on ourselves. What are our plans for the upcoming year? This is also a time when we should review our past year to better get our bearings, Virgo. You can easily make an impression on others, so make sure the impression you make is a good one. But do be sure that at this time of year your main focus should be on your personal concerns and, without being unduly harsh, do not let yourself be sidetracked. This might not be the best time to work on group projects, Virgo.
MERCURY IN FIRST
Retrograde Until September 12, 2010 Often with this transit we can more authentically communicate our desires and who we really are. We may tend to be quite focused on personal concerns, but can be very effective in our communications. Should you experience nervousness at this time, Virgo, it may be an indication of too much input or a scattering of your energies and you may need to slow down a bit to get a better grip on a given situation and take some time to relax.
MERCURY RETROGRADE TRANSITS
Mercury goes retrograde three times a year for a period of about three weeks. At these times it has been observed that communications can go awry, as well as having difficulties where travel is concerned. Usually, this does not indicate accidents, but there may be flight delays with airlines or lost luggage. Hotel reservations may not work out as expected and so forth. We may get the time wrong for a business appointment or lunch with a friend and so on. Other misunderstandings with communications may occur as well, so strive to be clear about everything. Be sure to dot the I's and cross the T's. These times may not be propitious for contract negotiations or signings. Also, another caution with Mercury retrograde, may concern electronics. This is not usually considered a favorable time for installing new software on a computer as troubles may arise from the new applications. We should also keep in mind at these times that we are advised to back up our computers just in case we experience a computer crash and end up losing work and important data.
VENUS IN SECOND
This is one of Venus' natural houses and as such Venus' energy now may be intensified and act more readily here. This may be advantageous on a financial level, Virgo. Contract negotiations, investments and purchases of art objects could be beneficial now. The only warning with this transit concerns extravagance. We may be far too free with spending now and could deplete our reserves, giving us reason for regret later. We are often able to draw others to us at this time, Virgo, that may be financially beneficial to us. This may also indicate a time when we discover within ourselves some sort of artistic/creative talent, or appreciation for this gift in others.
MARS IN SECOND
At this time material possessions and money issues may take up a good deal of our interest and we may feel frustrated or energetic in our approach to these issues now. If we feel we need more, we are likely to put a good deal of energy into acquiring more of what we want. If we feel our possessions are adequate, we may put them to use for gaining even more, perhaps by expanding a current venture and so forth. Spending now may not be wise unless we keep the impatience of Mars in check, Virgo. This may be a time when we spend merely to gratify our ego, so be aware of this tendency and avoid uselessly squandering your resources now. Personal values are also a second-house issue and this may be a time to share these values, as well as our assets, with others. Be careful in your approach to this as it could lead to clashes. Others have a right to their value system, too. At this time you can put a good deal of energy into second-house concerns, Virgo. The caution is to examine the motivation behind using this energy and avoid thoughtlessly squandering what we have and depleting our resources. Some personal talent or gift we have may also be brought into play now that might be financially beneficial to us. Whatever the case, Virgo, be sure to keeps Mars' energy in check and you can use it to further your second-house concerns constructively.
JUPITER IN EIGHTH
Retrograde Until November 17, 2010 Jupiter's beneficial influence with this transit, Virgo, may be felt in the area of shared resources, taxes, inheritance and even sex. But this is also one of the houses aligned with the subconscious/unconscious mind, and it is most likely that this is the area where most people will profit in this regard as well as through relationships with others at this time. Other people can prove to be financially beneficial to us now. This could take the form of business partnerships or perhaps through securing a loan and this is generally a good time for both. Some people might receive an inheritance or some sort of legacy now, but obviously this is rare, although on occasion it could happen. We may broaden our horizons through those we interact with now through business, personally, or even intimately. As always with Jupiter, this could indicate foreigners but the main characteristic is more often the expanding of our viewpoint in some way. Sex could be more gratifying than usual now, Virgo, but quite likely the learning that goes with a Jupiter transit could mean dredging up material that could be somewhat unpleasant. With this transit, however, we should be able to deal with any issues of this sort much more easily and effectively so they do not cause problems for us in the future and we can finally put them to rest. A final word on sexual fulfillment, Virgo, which concerns our expectations; this transit could indicate problems if we let Jupiter’s penchant for over-indulgence get the better of us. If we expect too much gratification in sex we could set ourselves up for disappointment or we could alienate our partner with what, to them, may seem like a self-indulgent approach to intimacy.
JUPITER RETROGRADE TRANSITS When transiting Jupiter turns retrograde, it affords us an opportunity to reassess where we may have exceeded the bounds of practicality. Have we overextended ourselves in business or in any other way for that matter? Now we have a chance to reevaluate our endeavors and to determine if our enthusiasm needs to be reined in a bit. This is a time to plan and prepare for opportunities that may present themselves when Jupiter turns direct again. Now is the time to determine if the course you are on, or the opportunities presented to you, are what you really want for yourself. SATURN IN SECOND
During this transit, Virgo, second-house issues have the potential to become worrisome to us. The second house is related to material possessions and it is often referred to as the money house. We should, however, keep in mind that on a deeper level the second house is related to our personal values and our inner resources. During this transit we are often distracted by financial concerns and miss the real opportunity of this transit, which is to ask ourselves what we really want. Finances could prove troublesome now, so it is best for most people not to take any major financial risks at this time as this could lead to difficulties later. For most people, this is a time to set up our finances to run without too much energy on our part. To do otherwise during this transit has the tendency for our finances to get out of control and take over our lives. Some astrologers equate this transit with financial loss, and for some people this may be the case. For most, however, this is a time when we may feel a bit insecure in this regard. But this is likely to be a distraction of sorts and, for most of us, a very effective one. Ideally we should now be scrutinizing our value system. Do we really want to be in debt up to our eyeballs; because this is what our society tells us is success? Often we chase after things that were instilled in us by others. Now is the time to ask ourselves what is truly important to us as individuals. Pursuing this is how we can add to our security.
URANUS IN SEVENTH
Retrograde Until December 5, 2010 Often this transit proves troublesome for relationships, both personal and business. This can signal that the strains of a troubled relationship become too burdensome and the relation-ship ends. This can, however, signal a time for work on your relationships, and those that are basically sound will weather the storm and improve accordingly. Uranus transiting through the seventh house merely signals that conditions in your relationships are becoming confining in some way and need to be approached from a new perspective for the benefit, not only of yourself, but for all concerned. If you are stuck in a relationship for fear of the unknown, or financial or emotional dependency, this could prove to be quite troubling for you now, Virgo. Listen to your unconscious and examine your needs as well as the needs of others. Failure to do so will increase the strain where relationships are concerned now. Other seventh house-factors may surface now as well. Open enemies may prove troublesome and your means of dealing with them may need revamping. The lower courts are part of seventh-house issues and legal matters may prove problematic now, too. One rather positive factor attributed to this transit is the possibility of a new love entering your life at this time. Remember to fly with both feet firmly planted on the ground in this regard as Uranus is not noted for fostering terribly stable relationships; often when the excitement wears off, so does the glow of the new situation. You must endeavor to keep the relationship fresh and exciting for it to last and allow each other individual freedom to maintain these relationships. Often, a new love may signal the demise of an older relation-ship now. There might also be a larger than normal age difference with the participants of such a relationship as well.
URANUS RETROGRADE TRANSITS This is a favorable time to observe the changes in the world around you and to assess the impact these changes may have upon you on a personal level. This period of review may help you to adjust your course if the changes taking place around you seem to be impeding your progress, or may block it in the future. Observe and plan for now and postpone any changes until Uranus turns direct again. NEPTUNE IN SIXTH
Retrograde Until November 7, 2010 This is a time when it might be wise to monitor our health more closely than usual, Virgo. This does not necessarily mean we will develop a health problem, but we may be more vulnerable at this time. Neptune’s favorite escape routes often involve alcohol or substance abuse. If you find yourself in this category, this might be a good time to reevaluate this lifestyle as it could adversely impact your health now. Neptune is also associated with toxins and poisons. If you work in close proximity to chemicals or substances of this type, be certain adequate precautions are taken to avoid accidental poisoning. Things may not go too smoothly now on the work front, Virgo. This could be due to misunderstandings with employers or co-workers that we may not understand completely. This might also indicate someone working behind the scenes to thwart our efforts and we may be totally clueless about this now. Neptune is associated with giving to others and with this in mind; efforts on our own behalf may fall short now. This is a favorable transit for those working in the helping professions or for those that do volunteer work. These types of efforts are aided by Neptune now. This may be a boon for creative work and those working in these fields. It is best if creativity is approached with a feeling of sharing our creations with the world to get the most benefit from these efforts now.
NEPTUNE RETROGRADE TRANSITS This is a time when we are advised to try to tune into our unconscious mind and examine what we find lying there. Assess your fears or any illusions you may be laboring under and try to ground them in reality in order to deal with them more effectively. Anything that leaves us feeling we are in a state of confusion should be dealt with also. Assess also if this may be connected to what is going on in the world around you. Endeavor to use your energy in a positive and productive manner and avoid escapism of any sort. Although Neptune is nebulous, we need to strive for clarity now in order to keep from deceiving ourselves and to deal with any issues confronting us in a practical manner. PLUTO IN FIFTH
Retrograde Until September 14, 2010 Relationships are the area normally influenced by Pluto's intensity with this transit, Virgo. Romantic relationships tend to be extraordinarily intense now, almost on the order of bordering on an obsessive/compulsive fixation. These relationships may have an almost fated or preordained quality to them. This does not necessarily mean these relationships will be bad for us, but we should examine our compulsions closely in this regard. Some people are even attracted to others that they know are not right for them, just as the proverbial moth drawn to the flame. In cases like this, it is the intensity we seek and we might be well advised, in some cases, to seek it elsewhere. Relationships with children may experience this same intensity, Virgo. This may be a time of fierce power struggles with children. Although we want what is best for them, we should be careful of robbing our children of their autonomy. It is best to keep in mind that, due to the intensity of these encounters, they are likely to influence our children well into the future; with this in mind conduct yourself accordingly should you clash with your children now. This does not necessarily mean that interactions with your children will all be power struggles. This may also be a time when you influence them positively in a powerful way. This is a time to be on guard for your children’s health and safety. Artistic/creative self-expression may be more intense than usual now, Virgo, almost as if we are driven if we express ourselves in this manner. Sports might also be an outlet, but be aware that sometimes the search for intensity can lead to foolish risks with our safety now. Keep in mind that just because we have the desire to take a risk does not mean it would be safe to do so.
PLUTO RETROGRADE TRANSITS As usual with any retrograde planetary motion, this is a time to step back and review our endeavors and to reassess what direction we are taking and just what it is we wish to accomplish. This is a favorable time to evaluate our progress toward our goals, but also to determine how these objectives may benefit others as well. We need to become aware of how we not only influence our own lives, but the lives of others, too.
